Rioja Sphynx is the loving creation of Linda and Richard, we live in the North East of Scotland. We met our first ever Sphynx about 8 years ago by chance at a friends house, she was called Mavis and she was absolutely gorgeous. We automatically fell in love with her and vowed that one day we would have one of our own. Surprisingly Richard who has an allergy to cats was unaffected to Mavis, which was great news

Years later from meeting our first Sphynx Mavis, I attended a cat show back in February 2008 hoping to see a Sphynx, and little did I know that just over two months from that show would I be given the honour of owning my very own Sphynx girl.

We had contacted various Sphynx breeders, and out of the blue we got the chance of owning our very first Sphynx. Jack and Phyllis Cockerel from Ramilypan entrusted us with their beautiful girl Ramilypan Amoire (who we call Mojo).

In 2010 we got our first stud boy (vanya) from Jan and Les at Amarogue. It’s a great honour to own two sphynx from the lady who first brought Sphynx cats into the UK back in 1988. So our precious boy Vanya and our girl Pixie are very special indeed!

Showing our Sphynx is our main passion. We have been very privileged to have met many lovely people through going to shows that also own, breed and show Sphynx. Showing cats is a very sociable event and it’s nice to meet other owners and also their gorgeous cats, its not all about whether or not your cat wins anything its simply about the experience.

Riojasphynx: Sphynx Cat Breeders in ScotlandWe primarily show through TICA and have met so many really lovely people and their cats at these shows, you always get a real nice warm welcome at the shows and the show staff are brilliant in organising the shows, although we love our sphynx dearly, we have been drawn to some wonderful "hairy cats", in particular one special cat, a Singapura, and on asking what kind of cat he was when I first seen him, I       had picked it up as a "Tempura" and since then he has been known as prawn (real name charlie), his little face just makes me smile everytime I see him!

Our cats are foremost pets, who we love showing and hopefully will carry their line on by breeding them sometime in the near future.

I am looking forward to showing my cats this year, (my own health permitting) and hoping that 2011 is a good year all round for Rioja Sphynx
